Welcome to the Complementary Additional Programme (CAP)

Welcome to the Complementary Additional Programme (CAP)

The CAP is UNESCO’s key programming and resource mobilisation tool, that facilitates partners and donors’ choice of supporting the work of the organization in a way that matches their priorities with the ones of the Organization, both with respect to geographic and substantive focus.

To make it easier for our partners to match UNESCO’s priorities with their own and identify concrete entry points for cooperation, outlines have been organized by thematic area. An overview of the 35 C/5 CAP, together with the underlying strategy for each of the major programme areas is given in the CAP brochure.

The CAP can be accessed via UNESCO’s System of Information on Strategies, Tasks, and the Evaluation of Results (SISTER). SISTER enables you to conduct your own on-line search of the CAP data base by selecting the relevant Programme Areas and/or Thematic Areas that are of particular interest to you.

    CAP database (The CAP tree)

You can also conduct a search based on the regions or countries of interest, by clicking on the search function. Once you have made your selection, the data base will generate a list of programme/project outlines in your area of interest either on HTML or Excel.

For further guidance on how to conduct your search please on "How to search the CAP"
