Institutions with a pedagogical mission are at the summit of the domestic system of art education, formed over a period of 200 years, under the aegis of the Russian Academy of Arts established in 1757 on the initiative of Count I.I.Shuvalov, one of the major figures of the Russian Enlightenment. One of the main functions of the Academy has always been the professional training and education of highly qualified artists. The achievement of good results has largely been due to the meticulous organization of the educational process. The Russian Academy of Fine Arts is one of the most prestigious institutions devoted to art education. It has always promoted both cultural dialogue at the international level and the exchange of ideas between artists of all European nations.
