Round Table “Freedom of Expression and Women’s Rights in Africa” (16 March 2010, 10 am - 1 pm, Room IV)

This Round table is organized by the Division for Gender Equality of the Bureau of Strategic Planning and the Communication and Information Sector, in collaboration with the African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET).

FOI.bmp The Round Table discussion will launch the resource book “Freedom of Information (FOI) & Women’s Rights in Africa” which aims at encouraging the participation of African women in the effective implementation of the Freedom of Information frameworks in their respective countries.

Presented as a fundamental right, Freedom of Information will be discussed in relation to women’s well-being and will trigger the circulation of information on crucial themes, such as HIV and AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, education, food security, gender violence and income-generating activities.
