The UNESCO Regional Office for Central America in San José will co-organize a roundtable with the Embassy of El Salvador in Costa Rica, celebrating 25 years since the signing of the Peace Accords.
16 January 017 marks 25 years since the signing of the Chapultepec Peace Accords in 1992, ending the civil war in El Salvador.

In commemoration of this important anniversary, the UNESCO Office in San José will organize a roundtable in the Embassy of El Salvador, in order to reflect upon the Peace treaties and their legacy to the current date.

During the post-war period in El Salvador, UNESCO led a Culture of Peace programme (project 507/ELS/01), that comprised of non-formal educational radio campaigns, working towards the consolidation of peace, by and for vulnerable women. UNESCO continues to be active in El Salvador to this date.

25 years after the signing of the Peace Accords, El Salvador continues to face challenges in the construction of a culture of peace in the country. This roundtable will invite members from the diplomatic corps and Salvadorian living in Costa Rica.
