30 November 2015 UNEVOC Centre hosts International Symposium on TVET Personnel in Magdeburg, Germany On the 25 and 26 November, 2015, 90 experts convened at an international Symposium on TVET for sustainable development in Magdeburg, Germany. The symposium discussed developments and opportunities with regards to the professionalisation of TVET personnel in international cooperation. (more)

6 November 2015 UNESCO-UNEVOC attends seminar at UNESCO’s 38th General Conference On 5 November 2015, UNESCO-UNEVOC participated in a seminar held as a side-event at UNESCO’s 38th General Conference. 28 September 2015 Experts meet to develop a Greening TVET guide On 21 and 22 September 2015, a small group of experts convened in UNESCO-UNEVOC in Bonn, Germany, to review UNESCO-UNEVOC’s draft Greening TVET Guide. (more)

29 June 2015 Turkey has become a member of European Alliance for Apprenticeships Following the Council Declaration of 15 October 2013 on the European Alliance for Apprenticeships, a large number of governments have submitted concrete commitments on next steps to increase the quantity, quality and supply of apprenticeships. 6 March 2015 Mobile technology in skills development for women UNESCO-UNEVOC co-organized a session on "Using mobile technology in skills development for women: A glimpse into promising practices to improve skills for employability" at Mobile Learning Week 2015. 7 January 2015 Supporting Social Partnership in VET in Georgia This paper is prepared within the ETF project “Supporting Social Partnership in VET in Georgia”. Its objective is to provide guidance to the tripartite social partnership in Georgia, i.e. the government and the employers’ and workers’ organisations, on ways and measures to substantially improve social dialogue in VET in Georgia at wider national level, as well as at sector and local levels. 7 January 2015 2013-2020 VET Development Strategy of Georgia This strategy document represents the Government's vision for the future development of vocational education in Georgia. Drafting of the strategy was informed by a broad consultation process, drawing upon the opinions and expertise of all relevant players in the area. (more)

22 December 2014 UNESCO-UNEVOC at Online EDUCA in Berlin “Less Talk, More Action! Meeting Tomorrow’s Needs Today” was the focus of UNESCO-UNEVOC's participation in this year's ONLINE EDUCA in Berlin. 16 December 2014 Green Cities – Green Industries – Green Jobs More and more people live in urban areas. Cities have to find solutions to challenges such as rising traffic and increasing waste. UNEVOC Network member GIZ and the city of Magdeburg invited partners from around the world to discuss challenges and opportunities of green cities and industries, and what this means for the creation of green jobs. 12 December 2014 New country reports in World TVET Database New country reports have been published for Benin, Cambodia, Chad, Iraq, Latvia, Lithuania, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Qatar, South Africa, Uganda and USA. UNESCO-UNEVOC continues to expand the World TVET Database and more country reports will be available soon. (more)

21 November 2014 Forum on TVET for Sustainability in North Rhine-Westphalia The Forum on TVET for sustainable development took place in Düsseldorf and brought together stakeholders in skills development and sustainability from the region of North Rhine-Westphalia. (more)

23 September 2014 7th BIBB Congress on Structuring Vocational Education and Training in a more Attractive Way – Facilitating Greater Permeability UNESCO-UNEVOC participated in the 7th BIBB Congress on “Structuring Vocational Education and Training in a more Attractive Way – Facilitating Greater Permeability” held in Berlin, Germany on 18 and 19 September 2014. Among the 800 participants were representatives from various levels of government, social partners, secondary schools, higher education and industry. (more)

16 September 2014 Just published: Attractiveness of vocational education and training This bibliography, jointly published by UNESCO-UNEVOC and the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), features the range of currently available literature on the topics of international mobility, transfer and transitions in TVET, and their role in increasing its attractiveness. 15 August 2014 New UNEVOC Centre at the Georgian Ministry of Education and Science In August 2014, the Social Partnership Support Division at Vocational Education Development Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia joined the UNEVOC Network. It is the third institution in Georgia to join the UNEVOC Network. (more)

27 June 2014 UNESCO-UNEVOC participates in KRIVET international seminar on skills development and youth employment policies, Seoul On 12 and 13 June 2014, Mr Shyamal Majumdar, Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for TVET, participated in an international seminar on enhancing the link between skills development and youth employment policies in Seoul, Republic of Korea. 9 June 2014 Joint expert meeting on the recommendation concerning TVET and adult learning On 27 and 28 May 2014, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning UIL, UNESCO-UNEVOC and the UNESCO Section for TVET jointly organized an expert meeting on the Revision of the UNESCO Recommendations concerning Adult Learning and Education (ALE) and Technical and Vocational Education (TVE). 18 September 2013 Omnia Finland joins the UNEVOC Network In September 2013, Omnia, the Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo Region in Finland joined the UNEVOC Network. With nearly 10 000 students and 700 staff, Omnia is one of Finland´s largest vocational institutes. (more)

1 November 2011 New publication: Initiatives to foster Chinese TVET and TVET Teacher Training China has been experiencing rapid economic development and the nature of work has also been changing. Its VET system needs to prepare students for new labour markets. This has changed the role of vocational teachers.
