Human Rights Day 2006 - 10 December

10 December 2006 (Human Rights Day) is the occasion to consider the situation of human rights throughout the world, assess successes and failures, and reflect on possible solutions to existing challenges.
Proclaimed in 1950, Human Rights Day commemorates the adoption on 10 December 1948 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an instrument that has become a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations. The purpose of this Day is to give further impetus to efforts to make human rights a reality for all.
