  1. Make it matter. 10 key advocacy messages to prevent HIV in girls and young women

    The aim of this guide is to equip its users with key messages, evidence and actions that can be used to advocate effectively on HIV prevention for girls and young women. It recognizes that advocacy needs to be adapted to each country using the methods and channels that work best in a specific context. It also, however, recognizes that any national advocacy work will be most successful if it follows some basic guiding principles.

    This annual project report for the Afghanistan HIV/AIDS Prevention Project includes the period from July 2007 to June 2008, including the startup period from March 2007, when PPF funds were made available. The project became effective on 17 September 2007. Six HACCA HIV/AIDS (Coordinating Committees of Afghanistan) coordination meetings were held. Several guidelines (HIV testing, TBHIV, Harm Reduction) were prepared (see Annex list). From March 2007, when PPF funds were made available, until 31 June 2008, about $260,000 were expended.

    This kit has been developed in the framework of the EI/EDC/WHO EFAIDS programme to help unions, their members, and teachers around the world protect themselves and their colleagues from HIV infection, and take effective leadership for HIV and AIDS and health education in schools.     In February 2007, the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development (MGLSD) released Findings to Guide the Development of a National Advocacy Strategy to Support Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children, a qualitative research report. The purpose of this study was to better understand the strengths and limitations of the national response to OVC, and to identify factors that impact policy makers' willingness to allocate resources to OVC programming.
