This is a report of the UNESCO/PROAP Sixth Regional Consultative Seminar on Population Education that was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 21-28 May 1990. The main objectives of the seminar were to: 1)examine developments and trends in country population education programmes since the 1986 Regional Consultative Seminar on Population Education; 2)assess new approaches and emerging needs and requirements in population education; and 3)identify new directions for making programmes more relevant and effective.
This manual provides practical examples of strategies, approaches and materials designed to integrate population education into various development programmes. It is a useful reference for field workers who are involved in planning, implementing and evaluating out-of-school population education programmes.
This guide was derived from two Regional Workshops on Integration of Population Education which were held in Jay-Giri, Indonesia, and Islamabad, Pakistan, and organized by the Asia-Pacific Programme of Education for All (APPEAL). It includes summaries of discussions that took place at the two workshops. Core messages are articulated for primary education, literacy and continuing education programmes.
