The Basque Language Writers’ Association (EIE) has signed an agreement to identify from 1 to 3 contemporary works (novel, short-story, poetry, theatre, essay) out of the titles preselected by EIE for a translation subsidy, and to propose them to UNESCO as potential new titles for the Collection of Representative Works.

The works mentioned above will conform to the literary quality criteria habitually adopted by EIE for the selection of the titles chosen and subsidised to be translated. Besides, they will have the following characteristics:

· They will be unpublished or poorly circulated in any language other then the original.

· Enjoy full visibility in Basque area and reflect important aspects of the Basque culture.

· They will be of outstanding literary quality and show great potentiality to become long-sellers.

· They will not contain any kind of expression avocating violence, discrimination or social hatred.
