UNESCO Round Table on Global EFA Week at the Bureau of International Scientific Cooperation (BISC), Ministry of Education


The UNESCO Cluster Office in Tehran, in close cooperation with all partners in the field of education including the Ministry of Education of Iran and Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, celebrated the Education for All (EFA) Global Week 2010 under the title of 1Goal: Lesson for All and Quality Education for Reaching the Marginalized from 19 to 26 April 2010.

During the EFA Week, the following activities were organized to raise awareness about education, EFA goals, importance of quality education and the role of academics and universities as well as related challenges in Iran:

  1. Launching of Global Monitoring Report 2010 in Farsi language;
  2. Production of 5,000 posters on EFA Global Week;
  3. Visit to 7 schools in Tehran and suburbs;
  4. Round table with the name of “Together for Moving Forward for Quality”;
  5. Two consultation meetings entitled respectively “EFA and Where Iran Is Standing as Regarding Education Quality” and “The Roles of Universities for Improving Quality in Education System”, with the participation of representatives from governmental officials, academics and experts;
  6. An award ceremony of a UNESCO pilot project on “School Journalism” in 12 primary and secondary schools.
