ALADIN Scholarship for online course on Social Media, November 2013
One of the three strategic objectives of ALADIN is to provide training in adult learning knowledge management. Therefore ALADIN in cooperation with the iSchool Institute, Faculty of Information, University of Toronto, is offering a full scholarship (worth CAN € 660) to attend an online learning course for library and information professionals:
Social Media Tools and Tactics course
Starting Date: Monday, November 4, 2013 - 12:00am. The course will take place over 7 weeks and will cover 21 hours of teaching.

Update of ALADIN Adult Learning Links, September 2013
During late summer 2013, all ALADIN Adult Learning Links were updated, reorganized and completed on the ALADIN Website. For this exercise, all information services of ALADIN members were screened.
Update of ALADIN membership information, August 2013
During summer 2013, all ALADIN members were contacted individually and requested to update their membership information. Corrections and amendments were done in the online ALADIN Membership Directory on the ALADIN Website.
ALADIN welcomes its 100th member, July 2013
The Nepal Community Library Association joined ALADIN in July 2013. There are now 100 ALADIN members from 50 countries from all regions of the world.
Free Subscriptions to the 'International Review of Education' (IRE), June 2013
In summer 2013 the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning has offered free subscriptions for the 'International Review of Education' (IRE) to ALADIN members. IRE is the longest-running international journal on the comparative theory and practice of formal and non-formal education.
The following ALADIN members have successfully applied for a free subscription and will receive the 'International Review of Education' in the future free of charge:

ALADIN member READ Nepal receives CONFINTEA Scholarship, May 2013
In May 2013, Ms Sanjana Shrestha from Rural Education and Development Nepal (READ-Nepal), a member of the ALADIN Network, spent four weeks to conduct in-depth research at the UIL Documentation Centre and Library. Her stay was supported by the UIL CONFINTEA Scholarship Programme, based on the private donation of the Nomura Center for Lifelong Integrated Education in Japan.
During her stay at UIL she prepared the draft for an article on community libraries as key agents for establishing literate environments and sustaining literacy skills. For the article she drew on international good practices and her experience in setting up 53 sustainable community libraries during the last 21 years in Nepal.
ALADIN Flyer in French and Spanish, March 2013
The ALADIN Flyer was translated into French and Spanish. It is a small and attractive public relation "give away" for conferences, meetings and mailings. It is available free of charge from the ALADIN co-ordinator.
