Salif Traoré, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and lead singer of the band Magic System, announced the 8th edition of the Anoumabo Urban Music Festival (FEMUA) at a press conference, which was held at UNESCO Headquarters on 2 March 2017. This new edition of the FEMUA, is placed under the theme “Africa facing climate change”. In his speech Salif Traoré recalled that “FEMUA is a great opportunity to educate, particularly the young people about the protection of environment”. The singer has also announced the building of two schools as part of the FUMUA 10.

Initiated by Salif Traoré in 2008, this Festival gathers world-known artists over a period of three days and aims to construct and rehabilitate the basic infrastructures in the areas of education and health for disadvantaged people in Côte d’Ivoire. This festival allowed to finance the construction of the elementary and primary school "Magic System" in Marcory-Anoumabo as well as the rehabilitation of several orphanages and health centers’ equipment in the country.

This press conference was attended by invited guests such as Mr Eric Falt, Assistant Director-General for UNESCO External Relations and Public Informations, H.E Ms Denise Houpouët-Boigny, Ivorian Ambassador to UNESCO  H.E. Mr Charles Gomis, Ivorian Ambassador to France, Mr Jean Marie Somet, Director-General of Côte d’Ivoire Tourism, Mr Aboubakar Diarrassouba, Secretary-General of National Commission for Human Rights in Côte d’Ivoire (CNDHCI), Mr Eugene Zadi, Deputy Director-General of the Ivorian Electricity Company (CIE), and the artist Singuila.

Salif Traoré has been UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador since 2012 with the mission of promoting UNESCO's programmes for comprehension between cultures, with special attention to the emergence of new and creative ideas for young people in Africa.
