Workshop in Côte d'Ivoire on the Impact of Environmental Change on Migration in the Sahel

Funded by UNESCO’s Emergency Fund, these studies will lead to a publication which will present what has been gathered, as well as their political implications. Their conclusions will be put at the disposal of the countries of the region, as well as of other regions affected by similar phenomena.<br /><br />Intended results:<br />• The reinforcement and promotion of the interdisciplinarity of the climate change knowledge base, by producing rigorous and impartial data on the situations in the target countries;<br />• An improvement in the understanding of the social dimensions of climate change, including of gender issues, through research focussed on policies, in cooperation with the relevant actors and networks at the national and regional level;<br />• The elaboration and implementation of policies which are better-informed by the relevant scientific knowledge, including regional mobility of people.<br /><br />In order to have broad participation and to encourage interest in the results of the two studies, sharing and validation workshops will be organised in the relevant two countries in the coming months.
