The International Review of Education – Journal of Lifelong Learning (IRE) invites submissions from researchers and practitioners of education. Priority will be given to papers on adult education, non-formal education and literacy, and formal education viewed through the lens of lifelong learning. Consistent with the mandate of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), the IRE promotes research on lifelong learning from all regions of the world and supports efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It serves policymakers and practitioners, as well as the research community.
The IRE is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal that accepts submissions in English and French. Manuscripts should be original and should not be under consideration by another journal or published elsewhere prior to submission. The IRE was first published in 1931, making it the world’s longest-running international journal of education. It has been edited by UIL since 1955. Traditionally, the IRE has not only published research on systems and methods of education, but also explored innovations and efforts to increase access to education for those excluded socially, economically or politically. The IRE is published by Springer Science+Business Media.
In addition to inviting submissions for its general issues, IRE also publishes regular guest-edited special issues on key topics in lifelong learning, adult education, non-formal education and literacy.
