Museology workshop for NEMEC staff

In line with the work plan signed between UNESCO and the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities for the assistance project to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo (NMEC), on 21-22 March 2016 a museology workshop was conducted with the participation of The American University in Cairo, Egyptology unit. It was attended by 40 participants from the staff of both Egyptian Museum and The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

The lecturer was Dr Wendy Monkhouse, curator at the UK National Trust, East of England Regional Office, who presented museology concepts and techniques through different examples from the museums in the United Kingdom. A visit to Gayer Anderson museum in Old Cairo followed the workshop as a field exercise and practice.
