“50 Years, 50 Movies on Water” session

As part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of water programmes at UNESCO, IHP is organizing ‘50 Years, 50 Movies on Water’ to highlight key water-related challenges as well as the solutions to address them in different world regions. The events are taking place at UNESCO Headquarters every two weeks from 25 June to 26 November, screening a total of 50 films articulated around the key thematic areas of IHP. Each event is dedicated to a specific theme which is introduced by an IHP professional or partnering expert and is also an opportunity to exchange and learn more about the work of the International Hydrological Programme.

The theme this week will be introduced by Mr Anil Mishra, Programme Specialist at IHP, who will present Meeting Water Security Challenges under Climate Change as well as introduce the main challenges and some of UNESCO’s related actions, including in the framework of the upcoming COP21.
The session will also count on the special participation of Professor Adrian Parr, Co-chair of Water from the University of Cincinnati, who will present the TaftTalks project and how it relates to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Five short movies will be screened followed by an open discussion. A light snack will be available to participants at this event.
