Mr. Fadi (Farid) Abillama is a Programme Specialist at IIEP, member of the Technical cooperation unit. He joined IIEP in 2012 after working for the Institute as a consultant during several years.

He is currently working on technical assistance and support to Arab countries with a particular focus on the preparation of Education sector plans, associated with analytical and quantitative methods in education planning (such as simulation models for education costs, education statistics and indicators), and on capacity building, mainly through the UNESCO CapEFA (Capacity Development for Education For All) programme for the Arab region.

Besides his work in the Arab region, he is involved in courses on education indicators, statistics and projections in several languages (English, French and soon in Arabic).

Before joining the Institute, he was a staff at the Institut de Recherche sur l’Economie de l’Education (IREDU/CNRS, Dijon, France, Institute for Research on Economics of Education) from 1980 to 1989 and then worked as a consultant for several international organisations, of which UNESCO and IIEP, and governments.
