Opportunities

PhD Fellowships
For developing countries, and especially the Least Developed Countries, PhD scientists help build a foundation for scientific strength and human prosperity. TWAS offers more than 470 PhD fellowships a year at some of the most respected institutions in the developing world. These fellowships are hosted in Brazil, China, India, Pakistan and South Africa.

As of 2017, the following PhD fellowship programmes will be going online and to apply, candidates will need to submit a new online application form:
CSIR, India; CIIT, Pakistan; DBT, India and ICCBS, Pakistan.
Applications for these fellowship programmes will ONLY be accepted via the online portal.
These fellowships will open one at a time and not simultaneously as in the past! Please see the overview page for more specific dates.
For programmes not listed above, the application submission will continue as in the past.

The TWAS-CIIT Fellowship Programme for Postgraduate Research offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to obtain all or part (sandwich or full-time) of their PhD in natural or social sciences.
