The Elsevier Foundation, the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and TWAS have established an award to recognize and spotlight talented early career women scientists living and working in developing countries.
Five women scientists from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean are celebrated each year for their research excellence, receiving a cash prize of USD5,000, a year’s free subscription to ScienceDirect and an all-expenses-paid trip to the annual edition of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference which takes place in the USA in February.
To qualify, nominees must be early-career scientists (within 10 years of graduating with a PhD degree) from the 81 eligible countries as defined by TWAS.
The 2018 edition will be in physical sciences (including chemistry, maths and physics). Nominations will be accepted until 1 September 2017.
