Fellowships
PhD and Postdoctoral Research fellowships are crucial for building scientific strength in developing countries.

IMPORTANT

As of 2017, the following fellowship programmes will be going online and to apply, candidates will need to submit a new online application form:

CSIR, India; DBT, India; CIIT, Pakistan and ICCBS, Pakistan.

Applications for these fellowship programmes will ONLY be accepted via the online portal.

These fellowships will open one at a time and not simultaneously as in the past! Please see the overview page for more specific dates.

For programmes not listed above, the application submission will continue as in the past.

Applicants should be aware that they can apply for only one fellowship per year from among the programmes offered by TWAS.

Research Grants
Funding helps researchers in the developing world to purchase lab equipment and supplies.

TWAS funds several programmes that provide grants to researchers in some developing countries for specialized equipment, consumable supplies and Master of Science students. The grant money goes to individual scientists and research groups.

Scientific Meetings
Grants support high-level international and regional scientific meetings in developing countries.

TWAS offers financial assistance to the organizers of international and regional scientific conferences, workshops, symposia and special meetings in the developing world.

Prizes and Awards
TWAS honours are among the most prestigious given for research in the developing world.

TWAS has long recognized that prizes and awards provide an incentive for scientists to do their best work, while winning global recognition. They range from the TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize, which celebrates the very best research in the South, to prizes awarded to early-career scientists already making impressive contributions to their field.
