Visiting Professors
When an institution in a developing country, and especially one of the world's Least Developed Countries, needs someone with scientific expertise, TWAS can help provide a seasoned professor. Institutions apply for this expert knowledge, and TWAS supports the professor's visit by helping to fund travel. Visiting professors typically teach courses at universities and help establish needed development projects in host countries.

The Elsevier Foundation - TWAS Sustainability Visiting Expert Programme
This programme aims to provide institutions and research groups in developing countries, especially those with limited outside contacts, with the opportunity to establish long-term links with world leaders in sustainability and further build capacity building in their countries.

TWAS Visiting Expert Programme
This programme provides institutions and research groups in developing countries, especially the Least Developed Countries and those with limited outside contacts, with opportunities to establish long-term links with world leaders in areas of science other than mathematics and physics, and help develop capacity-building in their country.

TWAS Research Professors in LDCs
A number of TWAS Fellows will be offered appointments as TWAS Research Professors for a period of five years, during which he/she will be expected to visit the host institution in a LDC three times for a minimum stay of one month each time. TWAS provides travel support while living expenses are covered by the host centre. NB: Only TWAS Fellows are eligible for appointment. Requests need to be submitted by research groups/scientific institutions in LDCs.
