The Inner Niger Delta in Mali is one of the largest wetlands in Africa. This is where Mama Tahé runs a communal garden together with 49 other women. "Our harvest goes to feeding our own families and whatever is left we sell to make money," says Mama.

The steep slopes of San Marcos in Guatemala is home to the Bravo family and their farm. On the soil that was previously dry and dead they now grow vegetables. "We sell in the markets and have increased our income. We also eat a lot of what we grow which has made us healthier", says Leonzo Bravo.

The people around the Pungwe River are completely dependent on its waters. This is why it must remain clean. Joao no longer pans for gold in the river but in a special pond. "I don’t bring it to the river, because panning there makes the river dead. It is a big difference from before, and the people living in the area are happy," he says.
