The project provides GYD $5,000,000 to indigenous communities to start a community business venture that will offer a service, create employment and invest the profits into other sectors that will benefit the entire community.
Rewa village has invested GYD $5,000,000 in its Community Development Eco-tourism project as a means of expanding operations to better cater to the needs of its clients and boost its village economy.
Who we are

In Guyana, UNDP works to fight poverty by supporting human development in a sustainable way. This concept is called Sustainable Human Development (SHD). As such, our work here focuses on poverty reduction, democratic governance, and matters relating to the environment, extractive industries and energy.
UNDP Signs USD 17M MOU with Ministers of Finance & Telecommunications for 2018 ICT GRIF Project
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today signed the approved Project Document for the ICT Access and e-Services for Hinterland, Poor and Remote Communities project that will be executed by the National Data Management Authority (NDMA). Signing on behalf of the Government of Guyana were Hon. Winston Jordan and Catherine Hughes, Ministers of Finance and Telecommunications, respectively.
Integration and Alignment of the Sustainable Development Goals Pivotal to the Development of Guyana’s Green State Development Strategy
As the Government of Guyana moves ahead with the preparation of the Green State Development Strategy (GSDS), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are providing technical support to align and mainstream the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the GSDS.
To this end, a workshop organized by the Ministry of the Presidency, Department of Environment with support from the Ministry of Finance was held at the Marriott Hotel on 15th and 16th March 2018. The workshop saw a gathering of participants representing the inter-Ministerial and multi-stakeholder Advisory Committee, members of the seven GSDS multi-stakeholder thematic expert groups, GSDS consultants, partners and senior government representatives.
