The workshop was organized and held in close collaboration with UNESCO/Windhoek office.

During 3 days of general meetings and 2 days of bilateral sessions, 50 statisticians from 21 Member States as well as UNESCO and UNICEF specialists discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to collecting, analyzing and reporting of education statistics in view of the SDG 4 – Education 2030 agenda.

The programme of the workshop that focused on the thematic and global data and indicators required for monitoring the targets of the SDG 4 – Education 2030,  put a  special emphasis on the methodology, issues and challenges of producing data on out-of-school children and adolescents of primary and secondary school-ages, as well as interpretation of such data and its use for policy-making. Other topics covered during the workshop included data collection on teacher trainings and qualifications, results from the UIS data gaps survey on SDG4 in sub-Saharan Africa, recent changes in UIS education data collection instruments as well as finalisation of national ISCED mappings.
