Photo Exhibition “Indigenous Peoples: Traditions and Know-How” – an itinerary in the Andes in Peru, in Bolivia and in Ecuador by Traditions for Tomorrow
18 April 2017 – 31 May 2017, on the exterior fences of UNESCO Headquarters
A journey in the field, in three of the countries of action of the NGO Traditions for Tomorrow. The exhibition shows the daily life of the indigenous peoples, in its great diversity. Without romanticism or miserableness, without deviating from the authenticity of the Andean life, the fifty thematic panels reveal the richness and the sense of the traditions and the knowledge, rich source of solutions to face the challenges of the daily life; a model of resilience.
They emphasize the deeply rooted indigenous values, the relationships between generations, the dialogue with nature, in the community as well as at home; the reality of these people today and … for tomorrow.
Illustrated with original and unexpected photographs by Slawo Plata and Olivier Follmi, the very large panels allow us to grasp the positive answers produced by these peoples for communication, health, governance, rituals, education, managing nature, production, festivities, etc.
