Youth Workshop: Together to Prevent Extremism and Promote Dialogue

Organized by UNESCO in cooperation with the League of Arab States, Al-Azhar, and the World Organization of Al-Azhar Graduates, the Workshop will gather young people form Arab and non-Arab countries to discuss the issue of extremism, in Cairo, Egypt, from 19 to 20 November 2017.

The Workshop will focus on the following topics:
- The use of religious texts to legitimize violence;
- The factors driving youth to join extremist groups and how to address them;
- Dialogue as a means to defuse extremism, where historic and contemporary examples of societies that have enjoyed peaceful co-existence will be highlighted.
