Denis Matsuev

Born in Irkoutsk (Russian Federation) on June 11, 1975, Denis Matsuev is one of the most distinguished pianists of our time. He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and is the recipient of numerous international music contests such as Tchaikovsky International Musical Competition he won in 1995. 

He then collaborates with the most prestigious Orchestras such as the New-York Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the French National Orchestra or the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra of which he became a soloist in 1995. 

Since 2008 Denis Matsuev is the President of the International Charity Foundation “New Names” which aims to seek out, select, and support talented young Russians in fulfillment of their professional goals from classical and folk music, fine arts to poetry and classical jazz. 

Denis Matsuev was designated as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador on 2 April 2014 in recognition of his commitment to the promotion of musical education, his efforts to support young talent through the Foundation “New Names”, and his dedication to the ideals and aims of the Organization.
