Internship at UNESCO Dili Antenna Office

Title: Internship – UNESCO Dili Antenna Office

Duty Station: Dili, Timor-Leste

Duration: 4-6 months

Job Descriptions

Under the overall direction of Representative/Director Jakarta and supervision of Coordinator Dili Antenna Office Jakarta, the objective of this internship is to gain experiences from multi sectoral activities implemented by UNESCO in Timor-Leste.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Within the strategic direction of the UNESCO Dili Antenna Office for mobilization of resources and augmenting its budgetary requirements to support its operation and the overall UNESCO’s programmes and activities in Timor-Leste, the Intern will specifically do the following:

  • Learn the structure, mechanisms, policies and practice areas of UNESCO.
  • Assist in contacting, liaising and building links with key government institutions, relevant partners as potential sources of information and data required for the development of project proposals and related tasks.
  • Establish list of contacts of potential donors and provide information to the Coordinator of Dili Antenna Office and colleagues assisting in the resource mobilization tasks.
  • Undertake research and desk reviews of specific information required for developing proposals and information and data required for programming and for responding to queries related to programme progress and status of UNESCO in Timor-Leste.
  • Assist the team members in putting together and developing the concept notes or proposals (write up and drafting) and in the finalization of the draft proposals.
  • Assist in organization of workshops by contributing in budget preparation, drafting content for printing material, logistic support and supervise banquet related arrangements etc
  • Assist in the documentations of specific activities such as workshops, training, learning events and other related activities organized and/or facilitated by the Dili Antenna Office.
  • Prepare minutes of staff meetings (internal) including skype meetings with UNESCO Jakarta and other meetings of the Dili Antenna Office regularly and submit to the Coordinator of the Dili Antenna Office.
  • Any other task assigned by the Coordinator of the Dili Antenna Office.

WORKING DAYS AND WORK SCHEDULE

  • Based in Dili Antenna Office
  • Working schedule: 5 working days/week; 8 hours/day.

Deliverables

  • Internee will submit a report upon completion of internship at UNESCO

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a graduate level degree program in Education, Social Science, International Relations, Business Administration, Public Policy or related area.

 

Skills

  • Computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Proficiency in English language is required;
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNESCO in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNESCO's objectives and to the UN Charter; and
  • Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
