Video about IOC
Videos about IOC are stored in several locations. Most videos owned exclusively by IOC and UNESCO should be submitted to the UNESCO video archives. They should be given a keyword to make searching for IOC videos efficient.
Use the Keywords: IOC Oceans
We suggest adding additional keywords as needed designating the IOC program: GOOS, JCOMM, Tsunami, Capacity Development, ...
See UNESCO Archives Multimedia
UNESCO also maintains a collection of videos on YouTube, known as the UNESCO TV

Sea change Short version 00:09:34 focusing on Argo and UNESCO’s monitoring work Language: EN |
The deep circulation of the oceans controls the weather and climate of the earth by moving heat, generating storms and controlling rainfall and droughts. Until very recently the deep ocean remained invisible to scientists, but now the science of our seas is undergoing a revolution, thanks to a vast array of floating oceanic robots known as Argo. The IOC and the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) was instrumental in the development of this transformative observing system. |

The local communities along the Andaman coast were devastated by the December 2004 tsunami, they lost lives, properties, fishing tools, their usual activity, and even their local cultures. But they discovered that, with the help of NGOs, agencies and governments, they were able to share views, think and act together, even including the marginal sea gipses to revive the communities livelihood. The lessons served the communities across the country |
