Introductory note:

The present unofficial table of claims to maritime jurisdiction represents a reference material for information purposes only. The table is based on national legislation and other relevant information obtained from reliable sources with a view to ensuring the most accurate representation of the status of claims. Recent developments regarding national legislation, maritime delimitation agreements and claims to national jurisdiction are reflected in the reports of the Secretary General on oceans and the law of the sea, under the section Maritime Space.

Despite extensive research and periodic review, however, the table may not always reflect the latest developments, especially those which have not been brought to the attention of the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations, which prepares the above-referred reports and is the publisher of the Law of the Sea Bulletin.
