The Memory of the World Programme was established by UNESCO in 1992.
Due to war and social upheaval, as well as severe lack of resources, significant collections worldwide have suffered a variety of fates. Looting and dispersal, illegal trading, destruction, inadequate housing and funding have all played a part. Much as vanished forever; much is endangered. Happily, missing documentary heritage is sometimes rediscovered.
The Power of Peace Network (PPN)
An interactive platform that seeks to harness innovative mechanisms to promote a culture of peace and dialogue, especially with the youth taking the lead role, through media and ICTs.
