Main activities
  • Conception and development of a specific capacity-building methodology.
  • Training of 120 civil society or government cultural actors from the four selected regions on skills development and advocacy.
  • Specific training of 20 cultural actors on cultural mapping methodology and advocacy, transforming these actors into “multipliers”.
  • Multipliers and other trained experts carry out research and mapping of the local cultural value chains.
  • Elaboration of a report and final recommendations based on the analysis of the mapping results.
  • Establishment and reinforcement of local networks through inclusive monthly forums involving representatives from local governments and civil society.
  • Presentation of project outcomes to the national cultural centres and municipal departments during public meetings with civil society and local cultural stakeholders.
  • Creation of a specific project website to disseminate the report and its recommendations.
How does this project contribute to the implementation of the 2005 Convention?
  • The local system of governance for culture, as well as the role of civil society in policy implementation, is reinforced – The mapping of local needs is key in providing information for evidence-based policy making and implementation. Likewise, the training of cultural agents to encourage engagement in mapping activities and for advocacy purposes will improve social participation and civil society actions.

  • The capacity needs in local cultural value chains are identified and capacity building activities are implemented to improve the skills of civil society actors – Needs are assessed through the mapping and the training programmes, contributing not only to the development of technical skills, but also to strengthening the local cultural community’s understanding of the country’s creative economy.
