@UNESCO/Chanthul Suos - National Museum

UNESCO has been involved in the domain of museum management in Cambodia for the last five years, especially through the training of museum staff and technical support for museum maintenance. The staff has benefited from museum training courses, including the documentation of collections, the handling of collections in storage, security at museums and the handling of manuscripts (with specific attention to the digitalizing of documents). These training sessions have been given to staff of the National Museum and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh and the provincial museums of Battambang, Takeo and Kampong Thom. Technical assistance so far has been given to the National Museum in Phnom Penh, especially in relation to the upgrading of the storage rooms and measures against water intrusion. At the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, assistance was given in terms of reorganizing of the tourism circuit and adding new tourist facilities such as entrance and ticketing booth, parking spaces and sanitary facilities.
