To honour the Global Media and Information Literacy Week and present the Media and Information Literacy (MIL) component of the EU funded “Support to Media in Jordan” project, UNESCO and Jordan Media Institute (JMI) - UNESCO's implementing partner - are organizing an event on October 30, 2016.
Under the patronage of Princess Rym Ali, and under the framework of the EU-funded “Support to Media in Jordan” project, the event will include a panel discussion to discuss here in Jordan the issues that will be highlighted at the global event: How can alliances among all MIL stakeholders improve and enhance global citizenship, human rights and development? How can MIL work to address such issues as poverty, hate speech and preventing violent extremism within societies? What is the role of policy in this regard? Can a media and information literate citizenry help to create equitable, inclusive societies? What role can the media, technology and the information industries play in achieving these goals?
