2018 Blue Shield Australia Symposium

The Blue Shield Australia 2018 Symposium will be held at the National Library of Australia in Canberra from 29 to 30 January 2018, with the theme ‘Cultural Heritage, Climate Change and Natural Disasters’.
The Asia-Pacific region face threats to cultural heritage from climate change and natural disasters. This symposium will bring together people working in the fields of climate change mitigation and disaster recovery across the culture sector.

Blue Shield Australia is one of many national commissions organized under the mission and objectives of Blue Shield. Blue Shield has its origin in the UNESCO Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, but Blue Shield also works to protect the world’s cultural heritage threatened by natural disasters. The mission of Blue Shield Australia is to safeguard cultural assets from risks due to conflicts or disasters for future generations.

Some eighty participants will attend the symposium.
