Naseer Shamma in a Concert with the Ensemble Global at UNESCO

DR

On Tuesday 19 December 2017, the virtuoso Iraqi oud master, Naseer Shamma, UNESCO Artist for Peace, performed in a Concert with the Ensemble Global.

It was the closing concert of the World Arabic Language Day dedicated this year to the Arabic Language and the New Technologies.

Naseer Shamma joined renowned musicians: the Tunisian Amine Bouhafa on piano, Jorge Bezerra from Brazil playing percussion, the Iraqi Ali Shaker playing sitar.

Combining classical Arabic music and Western jazz, this concert made the audience travel, namely with Travelling Soul (Rihlet Al-Arwah).

The artists carried together the message of peace and intercultural dialogue. The celebration also resonated with the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022), for which UNESCO is the lead UN Agency.
