Creative Cities of Film on screen at Busan Independent Film Festival
From 18 to 21 November, the 18th edition of the Independent Film Festival of Busan, which was launched in 1999, has screened 56 films of the most renowned and promising directors of the independent genre in the Republic of Korea and across the world. The screenings were held at Busan Cinema Center and other city's theaters.
This year’s edition has welcomed the Creative Cities of Film of Bradford (UK), Galway (Ireland) and Sofia (Bulgaria), and was composed of 6 main sessions: “Deep Focus”, “Inter-City”, “In-Between”, “Made in Busan Competition”, “Busan’s feature-length films” and “Local independent films”:
- The “Deep Focus” session shows the work of independent directors who build their own filmography over the years;
- The “Inter-City” session, organized since 2014, is dedicated to screening of films from other Creative Cities;
- The “In-Between” session screens films by directors born in Busan, but who steadily worked in other cities.
The Independent Film Festival of Busan fosters exchange between professionals of the sector both at the local and the international levels, as well as nurtures inter-city cooperation between the Creative Cities with its dedicated session.
