The Marie Curie Library collects, preserves and provides access to documents and media that are produced at ICTP, as a service to the ICTP community as well as to all the scientists around the world who need ICTP's original materials or are interested in the Centre's history. When the materials are not directly owned or managed by the Library, we offer a quick link to their repositories from this access point.
All the documents in the ICTP archives are digital and open access unless otherwise specified. Images in the ICTP photo archive can only be reused upon permission from the Public Information Office.
The Indico database serves as the online repository of contributions, mostly lecture notes and presentations, given at the workshops and conferences organized by ICTP. The ICTP Scientific Calendar is based on Indico, which replaces the CDSAgenda previously in use. Individual contributions, when made available, are archived in the activity programme's and speakers' pages, next to the author's name. A Search Tool allows querying the database for events, contributions and materials.
Lecture notes from 1969 to early 2000's, originally available only in print, were digitized by the library and uploaded into the database's historical archive.
The lecture notes that were printed for distribution were collected and included in the library's physical collection up to 2013. From 2014 onwards, they are only available in digital format. Each conference has a record in the Library Catalogue (search for Organization/Conference = ICTP + year, i.e. ICTP 1980).
More than 10,000 scientific papers written by resident scientific staff and scientific visitors (associate members, staff associates and others) were published as preprints between 1964 and 2010. The publication of ICTP preprints was discontinued in 2011.
All items are available in electronic format for direct download from the Library Catalogue (limit search to: ICTP Preprints). Pre-2004 print documents were digitized by the Library.
Over 3,000 digital images marking all the significant moments of the life of ICTP, with its activities, events, scientists and guests.
This archive is managed by the Public Information Office in collaboration with the Library, and is hosted on the Library database. All items are available in electronic format for individual use from the Library Catalogue (limit search to: Visual material / Pictures). For information about the photographs or permission to reuse them, contact the Public Information Office.
