The Coalition of Latin American and Caribbean Cities against Racism will meet in Bogotá, Colombia, on 15 October 2016. The event is taking place within the context of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) Congress, from 12 to 15 October 2016.

The initiative is organized by UNESCO, the Municipality of Montevideo, the Uruguayan Embassy in Colombia, with support of the Colombian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO.

Among the cities that will participate are: Brasilia, Ciudad de Panamá, Medellín, Montevideo, Quito, Rosario, Sao Paulo.

The meeting will seek to strenghten the linkages between cities of the Coalition, and to reaffirm their commitment, particularly in those cities where a change in government has occurred.

The elaboration of a joint plan of coordinated actions to work against racism and discrimination in 2017 is also on the agenda.

UNESCO has encouraged the creation of Regional Coalitions since 2004.
