The Bureau of the thirteen session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage met at UNESCO Headquarters on 22 March 2018.

During its meeting, the Bureau approved six International Assistance requests: two from Zimbabwe, one request each from Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Senegal, Mauritania and Togo. Through research, documentation, capacity-building workshops and pilot inventories, the approved projects aim to enhance the capacity of communities to safeguard traditions and practices, enhance and transmit local knowledge, revitalize the intergenerational chain of transmission, reinforce inventorying skills and strengthen the capacities of national stakeholders in preparing nomination files under the mechanisms of the 2003 Convention.

For detailed information on the decisions of the Bureau, kindly refer to its decisions here. The next Bureau meeting (13.COM 2.BUR) is scheduled to take place on 7 June 2018 at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, immediately after the General Assembly of the State Parties.
