  1. LGBTQI inclusive education report (preview)

    This report aims to provide information about the concrete measures that all members states have taken to ensure inclusive education and to tackle discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and variations in sex characteristics. This research has been carried out by IGLYO in partnership with civil society organisations and education experts. It is intended to be a resource for governments to evaluate the current levels of inclusion within their own country, learn from good practice examples and build international commitment.

Between November 2016 and February 2017, 3,713 LGBT young people aged between 11-19, including 402 living in Scotland, completed an online questionnaire. This report represents the responses of these participants living in Scotland. …

    In 2016 Stonewall commissioned the Centre for Family Research at the University of Cambridge to conduct a survey with young people who are lesbian, gay, bi or trans (LGBT), or who think they might be, on their experiences in secondary schools and colleges across Britain. Between November 2016 and February 2017, 3,713 LGBT young people aged 11-19 completed an online questionnaire, and this report presents the findings of this survey.     The aim of this report is to inform policy-makers and practitioners at EU, national, regional and local level on the most effective strategies and practices for preventing bullying and violence in schools across the EU. It examines evidence from European and international research, reviews national practices and the work of civil society organisations with regard to school bullying and violence.

  7. Bullying, identity and school performance: evidence from Chile

    This article examines the relationship among bullying, individual’s identity, and school performance in Chile. The results indicate that being a bully or a bully-victim increases the probability of being a low performing student. For the case of victims, our results suggest a heterogeneity according students’ ability, decreasing academic achievement for students with below average ability, but increasing it for very high achieving students. We also found that students claiming to belong to a subculture characterized by a defiant attitude towards authority have lower academic achievement. …

  9. The impact of bullying on students' learning in Latin America: a matching approach for 15 countries

    The authors examine the impact of bullying on learning and non-cognitive outcomes for sixth grade students in 15 Latin America countries using data from the Third Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (TERCE) learning survey. OLS and propensity score matching is applied to attenuate the impact of confounding factors. Matching results show that students being bullied achieve between 9.6 and 18.4 points less in math than their non-bullied peers whilst in reading between 5.8 and 19.4 lower scores, a 0.07-0.22 reduction in the standard deviation of test scores. …

  14. Campagne de prévention de l'homophobie à l'école: guide d'accompagnement à destination des personnels de direction et des personnels des établissements scolaires

    Le Ministère de l'éducation nationale, de l'enseignement supérieur et de la recherche a lancé en 2015 une nouvelle campagne nationale destinée à informer et sensibiliser les collégiens, lycéens, étudiants et l'ensemble des membres de la communauté éducative aux violences et discriminations à caractère homophobe dont souffrent encore trop de jeunes. Ce guide donne des ressources pour agir contre les comportements homophobes en milieu scolaire.

  15. Bullying homofóbico en Chile: investigación y acción: informe ejecutivo 2015

    El objetivo general de este estudio fue conocer como se construye el fenómeno de bullying homofóbico en las culturas escolares, desde la mirada de todos los actores. Los objetivos específicos fueron (1) Caracterizar desde la perspectiva de los adolescentes el fenómeno del bullying homofóbico, y (2) Describir la prevalencia del bullying homofóbico, desde una perspectiva ecológica.
