  12. Training teachers in an HIV and AIDS context: experiences from Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia

    This synthesis report summarizes main findings from case studies in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia that examined the response of teacher training colleges to HIV and AIDS. The findings show that the epidemic is adversely affecting faculty, staff and the functioning of teacher training colleges and that little is being done to address these issues. A number of reasons for this include: absence of any institutional policy framework on HIV and AIDS; limited institutional resource mobilization; and the stigma surrounding the disease. …

    El Servicio de Atención a Pacientes con Enfermedades Infectocontagiosas (S.A.P.E.I), se propuso elaborar un programa educativo para niños de 6to grado del colegio Centro Educativo Asociación de Profesores de la Universidad Central de Venezuela (C.E.A.P.U.C.V.), el cual llamamos "niños multiplicadores", en el que ellos serían capacitados para transmitir la información a los estudiantes de 5to grado con el objetivo de aumentar los mecanismos de prevención de las ITS entre ellas el Virus de inmunodeficiencia humana y el Síndrome de inmunodeficiencia adquirida ( VIH/SIDA ) en Venezuela.

    Los jóvenes de hoy constituyen la generación del SIDA. Nunca han conocido un mundo sin VIH. Millones de ellos ya han muerto. Pero para los adultos y los jóvenes mismos la epidemia entre estos últimos permanece casi invisible. Para detener la propagación del VIH/SIDA se necesitan estrategias globales centradas en la juventud.
