Child marriage violates girls’ human rights and adversely affects their health and well-being. While age at marriage is increasing in most regions of the developing world, early marriage persists for large populations. Worldwide, it is estimated that more than one out of three women aged 20–24 were married before age 18, and one out of seven were married before age 15. There is great variation in child marriage practices across and within regions and between ethnic and religious groups. Eradicating child marriage has long been on the agenda of the United Nations and of individual countries. …
This study report is an attempt to identify the fact and factors behind our cultural and social dispositions that influence HIV infections with an objective to think out of the box and dig into issues which contribute to the epidemic in our daily urban and rural lifestyles. The study revealed with strong evidence that the people of Bangladesh value their traditional practices but increasingly yield to significant pressure of mixed western culture and many of these traditions and practices have a bearing on sexual relations, and therefore HIV transmission.
This report analyzes current city-level responses in Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta, Yangon, Ho Chi Minh City and Chengdu to highlight innovate responses and underlines that city-based responses will have a critical impact on tackling HIV among MSM and transgender persons. The Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG) has endorsed a National Strategic Plan (NSP) for HIV and AIDS 2006 to 2010. An annual planning exercise for the implementation of the NSP is undertaken each year which aims to bring stakeholders together into one planning cycle.
