The Education Committee for Tel Aviv decided to roll out a new educational criteria in the cities schools educating on sexual identity and acknowledging of the homosexual and lesbian groups in an attempt to prevent homophobia. The upcoming school year will begin a pilot of 10 schools, which will include working with consultants, teachers, administrators and with students.

It provides descriptive data on different socio-demographic characteristics of Israeli lesbigay youth and presents the participants' experiences of school climate in the context of lesbigay issues. A Sourcebook of HIV/AIDS Prevention Programs Volume 2: Education Sector-Wide Approaches is part of a global effort to accelerate the sector's response to HIV/AIDS, particularly in Africa, and reflects the increasing recognition of the role that education has to play in the national response to HIV. A good education is now recognized as making a crucial contribution to reducing stigma and discrimination and to helping young people avoid infection. …
This paper describes the evolution of school-based HIV prevention programmes and their theoretical frameworks, as well as present barriers to their implementation. Examples of several best practices will highlight the key role of the education sector in mitigating the impact of HIV/AIDS. The paper concludes with an innovative suggestion for the establishment of a new profession: the AIDS educator.
This paper reviews our current understanding of the HIV, AIDS and literacy correlation, offers a new definition for HIV/AIDS literacy and suggests areas for applied research and action for enhancing HIV/AIDS literacy in the global fight against HIV and AIDS.
