    This Caribbean adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) situational analysis is informed and structured by two conceptual frameworks: the Mapping Adolescent Programming and Measurement (MAPM) framework and the Ecological Framework for Health. The MAPM framework complements the logical framework and other tools for designing, monitoring and evaluating programs. It begins by defining the outcomes that are subject to change. For the purposes of this analysis the ASRH outcomes analyzed are HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), adolescent pregnancies and abortions. …

    The Teachers Guide begins with a preface, an acknowledgement and brief introduction, and is followed by guidelines on how to use the curriculum in schools. Part II provides an overview of the drug situation in Ghana and Part III discusses the social and psychological factors affecting drug use by young people. Part IV lists some useful resources and other information for teachers.   5. Results from the School Health Policies and Practices Study 2014

    This report provides results from the SHPPS conducted in 2014. Following a detailed Methods section, 2014 results are presented in a series of 168 tables organized around the 10 components of the WSCC model. Tables 1.1 through 10.4 provide the percentage of schools or classes with certain policies and practices in place; these results are shown separately for each school level—elementary school, middle school, and high school.   6. Substance use prevention in educational settings in Eastern Europe and Central Asia: a review of policies and practices

    Promoting health and a healthy lifestyle among children and youth is a national priority for all Eastern European and Central Asian countries, and is reflected in their country policies. Schools have an important role to play in health promotion, by preparing children, adolescents and youth for a healthy and safe adulthood. This review of policies and practices provides a brief account of the achievements to date in prevention education (with special focus on drug use prevention), and outlines the challenges still to be addressed.

    This publication addresses research questions related to an increase in the levels of access and utilization for four key interventions that have the potential to significantly reduce HIV infections among People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) and their sexual and injecting partners, and hence morbidity and mortality in low and middle-income countries (LMIC).     This documents talks about Four factors which have driven China's response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic: (1) existing government structures and networks of relationships; (2) increasing scientific information; (3) external influences that underscored the potential consequences of an HIV/AIDS pandemic and thus accelerated strategic planning; and (4) increasing political commitment at the highest levels.   13. HIV/AIDS policy in Vietnam: A civil society perspective

    HIV/AIDS has spread rapidly in Vietnam since the first case was registered in 1990, and today more than a quarter-million people in the country are living with HIV/AIDS. The national HIV prevalence rate among adults is 0.5 percent, but prevalence rates are significantly higher among high-risk groups, such as injecting drug users (33 to 65 percent) and sex workers (approximately 16 percent). However, the illegal nature of drug use and sex work has complicated efforts to prevent HIV among these high-risk groups. …

  14. The HIV Epidemic in Yunnan Province, China, 1989-2007

    The article aims to investigate the characteristics and trends in the HIV epidemic in Yunnan Province, China, between 1989 and 2007. It shows that the HIV epidemic in Yunnan has progressed to a concentrated epidemic. Future efforts must focus not only on groups at risk for primary infection (injecting drug users, men who have sex with men, and female sex workers) but also on their low-risk sexual partners.
