The NSP Working Group met from June 2012 to October 2013 and identified the following priority areas for the Cook Islands Integrated National Strategic Plan for Sexual and Reproductive Health. These priority areas are integrated with each other and not prioritised within themselves; each is as important as the others: leadership and policies, prevention and gender rights, program integration, comprehensive management of STIs and family planning, reproductive health and gender based violence.
The policy is developed as an integral part of the National Development Policy, "Vision 2020" and The White Paper on Health Sector Development and Reform of 2002. It also responds to the recommendations of the National Youth and Gender Policies. It provides the guiding principles and appropriate strategies for planning, allocation of resources, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Sexual and reproductive Health services.

The imperative to prepare the largest generation of young people in history for adulthood has driven a search for fresh approaches to educating adolescents about their bodies and sexuality. Recently, there have been calls among health experts and educators for a comprehensive, integrated approach to sexuality education that addresses not only health issues such as HIV and pregnancy, but also helps to achieve broader outcomes such as ensuring gender equality, increasing access to education for girls, and improving the quality of education overall. …

The guide is to be used hand in hand with the Alliance Good Practice Guide: Integration of HIV and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The high maternal mortality rate, high adolescent fertility rate, unmet need for family planning, and on-going problems with sexual and gender based violence are some of the indicators that highlight a need for comprehensive sexuality education and evidence based interventions. This SRH Policy provides concrete areas of focus and is aligned to international and national policies and frameworks. It addresses reproductive health and rights challenges faced by Swazis and outlines implications for the different levels in the Ministry of Health. …

Much research attention has been devoted to understanding the relationship between education and riskier sex-related behaviors and HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. While in the early 1990s researchers found that increases in education were associated with a higher incidence of HIV/AIDS, this relationship appears to have reversed and better educated people, especially women, appear less likely to engage in riskier sex-related behaviors and have a lower incidence rate of HIV/AIDS. …
In Africa, men play key roles in reproductive health - as individuals, family members, community decision-makers, and national leaders. Most reproductive health care, however, focuses on women. Reaching men is key to making family planning more widely used, ensuring safe motherhood, and limiting the spread of HIV/AIDS. The conference focused on reaching men by overcoming barriers to men's participation and building on decisionmaking traditions in the region.
Gender and sexuality have long been recognised as key factors affecting the dynamics of the HIV epidemic. Issues vary across communities and countries, but power imbalances, harmful social norms, violence and marginalisation affect women, men, girls, boys and transgender people across the world, limiting their ability to prevent HIV infection. There are a growing number of HIV and broader health initiatives that not only highlight gender issues, but also aim to change harmful norms and practices. These are called "gender-transformative" approaches. …
The Ministry of Health (MOH) developed the national strategy for reproductive and sexual health in Cambodia (2006-2010) to ensure an effective and coordinated response to reproductive health needs in the country. This strategy builds on the national safe motherhood action plan (2001-2005), birth spacing policy (1995), and abortion law (1997) [26-28]. It draws from the national policy on infant and young child feeding practices (2002) and the health sector strategic plan (2003-2007) with its minimum and complementary packages of services. …
