Pan-African Youth Forum for a Culture of Peace and the Fight against radicalization for the creation of an early warning system in Central Africa

UNESCO is co-organizing with the Government of Gabon, the United Nations Office in Central Africa (UNOCA) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), with the support of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), a Forum entitled "Pan-African Youth Forum for a Culture of Peace and the Fight against radicalization for the creation of an early warning system in Central Africa”, from 30 November to 2 December 2017, in Libreville, Gabon.

The main objective of the Forum is to strengthen the involvement of youth in the promotion of a culture of peace through the prevention and management of conflicts and violence in Africa, by the creation of an early warning system in Central Africa and in particular, with a view to building more resilient and peaceful societies.

The forum will also offer an important platform for the Youth Representatives from the Central African sub-region to have a pivotal role in advocating for the sub-regional project on "Youth Capacity-building in managing associations and the creation of an early warning system for the youth for peace and security in Central Africa”, among various donors.

Participants will include, among others, Representatives of the Pan-African Youth Network for the Culture of Peace, of the National Youth Councils of ECCAS countries; senior officials of Government Ministries, ECCAS Minister in charge of Youth; the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Africa; High level UN, ECCAS, OIF, AU, EU and Financial Institutions Officials; the Omar Bongo Ondimba Foundation for Peace, Science, Culture and the environment, the Network of Foundations and Research Institutions for the promoting a culture of peace in Africa, UN-Women and UNFPA.
