    AIDS continues to have a devastating effect on developing countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. The lack of a proven effective vaccine to stop HIV transmission has led to much of public policy putting an emphasis on information campaigns in order to reduce HIV-prevalence. In this paper we examine the impact of HIV/AIDS-knowledge from two sides. First, we examine to what extent the campaigns have been successful at inducing the expected behavioural change with regards to HIV-related attitudes.     Cette évaluation est un exercice qui permet de mettre en lumière la situation du genre dans les projets et programmes de lutte contre le SIDA face à la réalité de la vulnérabilité des femmes et de la violation de leurs droits humains mais aussi une occasion d'entendre les partenaires sur leurs perspectives, leurs aspirations en termes de partenariats pour parfaire leurs approches. Les facteurs de vulnérabilité des femmes au VIH/SIDA sont d'ordre légal, socioculturel, économique politique et institutionnel.

  3. HIV/AIDS-Related Knowledge and Attitudes of Palestinian Women in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

    This document tries to explore Palestinian women's knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes towards HIV/ AIDS. Methods: Data used in this study were collected as a part of the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) 2004 in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). Results: Most of the women in the OPT (93.4%) had heard of AIDS. They had fair general knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention methods and transmission. TV was the main source of information about HIV/AIDS. Among the determinants of HIV/AIDS knowledge identified by this study were education, region, and locality. …

    In Ethiopia, in 2003, 2.9 million adults and 250 000 children are living with HIV/AIDS. About 90% of the reported AIDS cases are between the age 20 and 49 and this age group is among the productive sector.
