Responding to HIV & AIDS in the Asia-Pacific Region

Among the special programmes of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Asia-Pacific region in Bangkok, the HIV Coordination, Adolescent Reproductive and School Health Unit promotes policies and programmes for adolescents, both in-school and out-of-school. Capacity building, information collection and sharing, as well as advocacy are key cross-cutting strategies that underpin the Organization's work in the region.

Among examples of completed country-based projects was a review in the Maldives of national experiences in planning and implementing communication and advocacy strategies for adolescent reproductive and sexual health, compiled by Ms. Fathimath Shafeeqa, former Senior Teacher Educator, Institute for Teacher Education, Male.
