UNESCO Meets with Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam

27.7.2017. Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Director and Representative of UNESCO Office, Jakarta had a courtesy meeting with Dr. Romaizah Saleh, Permanent Secretary (Core Education), the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the existing and future partnership between UNESCO Office, Jakarta and the Government of Brunei Darussalam specifically with the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education has shown keen interest to further collaboration with UNESCO Office, Jakarta in the area of education. It also conveyed willingness to facilitate the communication with other Government Ministries in the areas of UNESCO’s mandate.

Dr. Shahbaz Khan stressed the importance of strengthening the relationship and the cooperation between two institutions in order to strategically achieve the target of SDG in particular SDG4 – Quality Education. The collaboration can be in the areas of quality education, teachers capacity building, benchmarking and student mobility and education for sustainable development.
 
Dr. Romaizah Saleh, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Brunei Darussalam expressed interest in collaborating with UNESCO Office, Jakarta particularly in enhancing the education sector in Brunei Darussalam. Dr. Romaizah Salleh also welcomes UNESCO Office, Jakarta to visit Brunei Darussalam to explore potential collaboration in various mandated fields of UNESCO.

The meeting concluded with high note of assurances from both institutions to further deepen the cooperation, partnership and mutual support particularly in the field of education to reach Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by 2030.
